Biography
Bill Campbell was variously General Counsel (International Law) and head of the Office of International Law in the federal Attorney-General’s Department from 1996-2018. In that capacity Bill advised successive Australian Governments on all areas of international law and its implementation in Australia. He was also responsible for the conduct of, and appeared in, cases involving Australia before international courts and tribunals including the International Court of Justice and the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea. He continues to practise in the area of public international law and is an Honorary Professor at ANU Law School. Bill is a graduate of the University of Sydney (LLB) and University College, University of London (LLM).
